UPTET is a state-level entrance test conducted by Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) for the recruitment of Primary and Upper Primary Level teachers in various schools of Uttar Pradesh. UPTET 2018 was given by around 17 lakh students on November 18, 2018. However, a total of 18,25,036 candidates had applied for the exam.

 

Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) conducts UPTET in order to shortlist aspirants to become teachers in the state of Uttar Pradesh. On the basis of Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) aspirants become eligible for teaching jobs in the state at Primary (Class I to Class V) and Upper Primary (Class VI to Class VIII) level.

 

UPTET comprises of two papers. UPTET Paper I needs to be given by aspirants who want to teach Class I to Class V whereas UPTET Paper II needs to be given by candidates who want to become teachers for Class VI to Class VIII. General category candidates who secure 60% marks in UPTET 2019 would be considered to have qualified UPTET whereas reserved category students who secure 55% aggregate marks would qualify the state level teacher eligibility test. Candidates who qualify the exam would be given the eligibility certificate.

UPTET Exam Timings Extended by Half an Hour

The duration of UPTET Paper I and Paper II have been extended by half an hour. Paper I for UPTET 2018 was conducted from 10 am to 12:30 pm on the exam day whereas UPTET Paper II was held from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. View UPTET exam pattern here.

 

More than 44,000 candidates disqualified from appearing for UPTET 2018

The Examination Regulatory Authority (ERA) had disqualified 44, 135 candidates from taking UPTET 2018 exam. A total of 18.25 lakh candidates had filled UPTET application forms

UPTET 2019 Eligibility

Candidates need to be citizens of India in order to apply for UPTET exam. In addition to this, aspirants from Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet can also apply for the state level teacher eligibility test. There is no fixed number of times that candidates can apply for UPTET exam.

 

Aspirants are informed that there is different eligibility criteria for UPTET Paper I as well as UPTET Paper II. The detailed UPTET 2019 eligibility criteria is mentioned below.

 

UPTET 2019 Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teachers (Class I to Class V)

Candidates need to fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria in order to be able to appear for UPTET 2019 Paper I:

 

Should have secured Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised university or college affiliated to University Grants Commission.

OR

 

Should have passed the National Teacher Education Parishad from recognised educational institution.

OR

 

Should have done BTCT from the institute recognised by the National Teacher Education Council Uttar Pradesh.

OR

 

Should have completed the two-year Diploma in the education from the Indian Rehabilitation Parishad.

OR

 

Should have cleared Graduation in BTech from a recognised University which is affiliated to UGC or Uttar Pradesh Rashtriya Teacher Education Office.

OR

 

Graduates from the armed force who have completed the final year of 4-year primary education with minimum 50% aggregate marks are also eligible for the Teacher Eligibility Test for Class I-V.

OR

 

Should have graduated from the University or college affiliated to UGC and completed the training in BTC Urdu from Uttar Pradesh.

For Urdu Teachers: Candidates should have completed their graduation or those who are Moa’llim-e-Urdu degree holders from Aligarh Muslim University before August 11, 1997.

UPTET 2019 Eligibility Criteria for Upper Primary Teachers (Class VI to Class VIII)

Candidates need to fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria in order to be able to appear for UPTET 2019 Paper II:

 

Should have scored minimum of 50% marks in the intermediate examination.

Should have completed their graduation or candidates who are currently studying in the second year of BTC in an institute affiliated to NCTE are also eligible to apply.

Should have completed their graduation/ post-graduation with minimum of 50% marks or should have passed or are currently studying in 2nd year of BEd in an institute affiliated to NCTE.

Should have completed their graduation/ post-graduation with minimum of 50% marks or should have passed or are currently studying in 2nd year of LT in an institute affiliated to NCTE.

Should have completed their graduation/ post-graduation with minimum of 50% marks or should have passed or are currently studying in 2nd year of BEd (specialisation) in an institute affiliated to RCI.

Should have secured 50% marks in intermediate and those candidates who are currently studying in the final year or have passed BEd are also eligible to apply.

Candidates who are currently studying in the final year or have passed BScEd/ BElED are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit: Candidates who want to apply for UPTET exam need to be between 18 years to 35 years of age.

UPTET 2019 Process

Step 1: Fill UPTET Application Form

Aspirants need to fill their UPTET 2019 application form online on the official website of the teacher eligibility test. In UPTET application form, aspirants need to fill their details such as Father’s Name, Mother’s Name and Date of Birth as per Class X Certificate.

 

Step 2: Download UPTET Admit Card

Candidates can download their UPTET 2019 admit card from the official website of the exam. The admit card for UPTET exam contains details of the aspirant. It also mentions the candidate’s test centre details as well as reporting time for the exam, along with other instructions related to UPTET exam.

 

Step 3: Give UPTET Exam

Aspirants need to report at their UPTET exam centre as per the reporting time mentioned on their admit card. UPTET exam comprises of two papers. Candidates need to give Paper-I if they want to qualify the exam and teach Classes I-V (Primary Level) and Paper-II is to be given to qualify for Class VI-VIII (Upper Primary Level).

 

Step 4: Check UPTET Result

UPBEB announces UPTET 2019 result on the official website of the exam. Candidates who qualify the exam will get a UPTET certificate.

UPTET 2019 Results

UPTET results 2019 will tentatively be released in December. Revised UPTET result 2018 were released by authorities on December 20. Due to this, 19,852 more candidates cleared the exam taking the total number of candidates passing the UPTET 2018 exam to 3,86,137. The Allahabad High Court had instructed the regulatory authority of UPBEB on December 19 to issue marks of three disputed questions equally to all candidates who had appeared for UPTET 2018.
